Kenneth is a Cebu-based designer who studied industrial design at the Pratt Institute in New York. After a series of further studies and apprenticeships abroad, he returned to the Philippines in 1996 and started to manage his family’s furniture company, Interior Crafts of the Islands Inc. which is based in Cebu.

Rapunzel Chair (Plush and comfortable, thick hand-coiled upholstered foam curves over a steel frame. Seat and back cushions are covered in smooth wool to carry the overall softness through the design from aesthetics to comfort.)

Kenneth is known for his organic and often biomorphic designs. By exploring the properties of indigenous materials such as buri, abaca, rattan, and bamboo, he’s able to come up with forms that are unexpected. Apart from exploring the natural materials themselves, Kenneth goes back to nature where he often finds his design inspirations.

This was the bed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt bought from one of Kenneth Cobunpue's collections. Truly world class.

The Hagia collection features an intricately and painstakingly woven design on a steel frame, resembling the craft of crochet. Airy and transparent, this furniture collection offers daybeds, and coffee and end tables with glass tops to bring alfresco elegance to you home, inside or out.

The ‘Bloom’ lounge chair is made of microfiber stitched over a resin top with a steel base. Inspired by the graceful blossom of a flower, this lounge chair is sculpted by hundreds of fine running stitches radiating from the center of the seat creating a subtle textural feel.

Kenneth Cobonpue discovered that modern design could have a new face using natural fibres and materials and with time he carefully created the pieces which form the heart of his collection today. Integrating locally sourced organic materials with innovative handmade production techniques offered an alternative to the Western Definition of modern design.
